DRY NEEDLING

Dry needling is used to treat pain and muscle tension. A thin, single-use, filament needle is used to stimulate trigger points in the muscles, which can help reduce pain and improve range of motion.

The stimulation of a myofascial trigger point with dry needling can cause an increase in local blood flow and a decrease in the sensitising biochemicals that can contribute to both acute and chronic pain. Learn more about trigger points here.

Dry Needling is extremely effective for reducing pain and muscular spasm and restoring healthy function of muscles.  It is often paired with other kinds of massage to expedite the healing process.

Unlike acupuncture, dry needling is based on modern Western medicine and a thorough understanding of the anatomical and neurophysiological basis of pain. If you are experiencing chronic pain or muscle tension, dry needling may be an effective treatment option for you.

Benefits Include:

  • Release and deactivate trigger points

  • Reduce muscle tension

  • Enhance blood circulation

  • Release endorphins (the body’s natural painkiller)

  • Increase range of motion
